Canadian Healthcare Housekeepers Association

The Canadian Healthcare Housekeepers Association (CHHA) is the official Healthcare Division of ISSA Canada. 

The healthcare housekeeping industry in Canada applauded the merger of the Ontario Healthcare Housekeepers Association (OHHA) with ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, in October 2020. OHHA is now expanding its mission to embody healthcare housekeeping / environmental services professionals across Canada. To better reflect its new national goals, the association will now be known as the Canadian Healthcare Housekeepers Association (CHHA), a Division of ISSA.

Formed in 1957, CHHA has been dedicated to the advancement of the healthcare housekeeping/environmental services profession as an integral part of the healthcare team caring for patients, residents, staff and visitors in both hospitals and long-term care facilities in Ontario. 

As CHHA, the association can now fulfill its forefathers' goal of becoming the leader and national voice of professional healthcare housekeepers across Canada. CHHA will now offer opportunities for housekeeping and environmental supervisors, managers, team leads and frontline staff through standardized educational programs, expanded resources, and networking opportunities.

The merger further demonstrates ISSA Canada's initiative to unite all facets of the Canadian cleaning and sanitary maintenance industry, and help change the way the world views cleaning.

Professional Healthcare Housekeeper (P.H.H.) is a certification process available to CHHA members. This certification program is continuously being upgraded to reflect the ever-changing needs of both patients and long-term care residents.
